Epic Privacy Browser for Android: Features and Tips

Epic for Android brings the Same Privacy Protections you've enjoyed for years on your PC or Mac to your Android Devices. Epic for Android is free with the same unlimited, free browser VPN/encrypted proxy and has no in-app purchases.

Here are some tips for using Epic for Android:

✴ Enabling AdBlock & the Encrypted Proxy is recommended. Click on the blue "Mobile Extensions" link at the top of the new tab page to install both in a few seconds.

✴ Audio Queue. Epic can read a set of webpages to you using Android's text-to-speech functionality. For any webpage you want read to you, click on the menu then select "Add to Audio Queue". After you've added the pages you'd like to hear, select "Audio Queue" in the menu to control playback.

✴ Reader/Text Mode. Epic can convert webpages into an easy-to-read mostly text format. Click on the reader/text mode button at the top right of Epic.

✴ File Vault. When you long press an image or video to download it or try to download any other file, Epic should show you an option to "Download and Encrypt in Vault" or "Download without Encrypting". If you Download and Encrypt the file to the Vault, the file can only be opened via your password. Note the filename may still be visible, but within Epic's Download page you may change the filename. Via the Download page, you may encrypt and decrypt any other files on your device.

✴ Site Doesn't Load. Two things to try if a website doesn't load: disable the encrypted proxy and via the menu "Block Ads & Trackers", disable AdBlock for the site.

✴ YouTube Background Play. Here are some simple steps to play a YouTube video in the background (e.g. to listen to an album while you're traveling). Load the YouTube video url you would like to play. In the menu, select "Desktop Site". Play then pause the video. Click your device's home button. There should now be controls for the video on your home screen or in the notification tray.

* Bypass Some Content/Paywall Blocking. For some sites that load a webpage but then hide the content such as the New York Times or Bloomberg, you can read the content by clicking on the "Reader/Text Mode" button at the top of Epic next to the three dot settings button. Then tap "Simplified View" at the bottom of the screen.
